Webinar aims
Climate change is putting considerable stress on urban areas, driven by hazards such as increasing extreme heat, fluvial flooding and sea level rise. These hazards can increase risks to human health and wellbeing, property, and the performance of critical urban infrastructure. At the same time, the environmental services on which such areas depend are also being impacted. EO data can be used to bring high-resolution insight to bear anywhere in the world to inform a range of decisions, from informing ‘climate-adaptive’ building design to helping to identify opportunities for climate resilient development and economic activities in coastal areas.
This webinar aims to introduce the use and benefits of EO-derived data and services in climate resilience decision making in the areas of urban resilience and environmental & natural resources.
Webinar learning outcomes
- Be familiarised with how to EO-derived information of EO information
- Understand how EO data may be mainstreamed into decision-making processes throughout the project lifecycle in the areas of urban resilience and environmental and natural resources
- Understand how EO data are used in building investment cases for climate resilience investment
- Learn from use cases that draw on the Cluster's EO-driven analysis of urban flood and coastal change in Monrovia, Liberia

About the EO4SD Climate Resilience Cluster
Earth Observation for Sustainable Development (EO4SD) is an ESA initiative that aims to increase the uptake of EO-based information in development operations at national and international levels. The EO4SD Climate Resilience Cluster aims to help development partners upgrade their tools and skills in order to accomplish their climate resilience obejctives.
